e-Health: WHAT WORKS - 2010 Report
The CeBIT Australia eHealth Conference and Exhibition was held on the 24th - 26th May 2010. Health professionals, policy makers, and industry came together for the conference and workshop event which was thought provoking and provided the opportunity to share thoughts around the current health reform agenda.
The event was chaired by Jane Treadwell, previous senior executive of the Australian and Victorian government, and who know advises to the World Bank.
Keynote speaker Dr Mike Bainbridge was entertaining and shared some of his knowledge, insights, and experience of working within the large health reform program within the National Health Service in the United Kingdom.

Other presenters included Dr Sarah Muttitt, CIO Ministry of Health Holdings, Singapore, Kate Gunn, Director Balance Healthcare, Maria Palazzolo, CEO, GS1, and Suneel Rataan, Robert Bosch Healthcare. Conference presentations will be made available in the coming weeks.
Two panel discussions were held during the day which explored avenues of health reform, engaging health consumers, and practical ways of validating health outcomes. Both were facilitated by senior industry leaders David Rowlands and Stephen Alexander respectively. A discussion white paper is being drafted from the event which will also highlight the industry capability presented at the eHealth exhibition.

Four workshops were held which explored integrated service models and the role of technology, telemedicine, clinical safety in health IT, and mobility and health consumer applications. These workshops were all fully attended, received great feedback, and provided a lot of knowledge facilitators and attendees alike with a professional exchange of knowledge and ideas.

The eHealth Exhibition at CeBIT presented industry capability available within the sector, including clinical information systems, nurse and home emergency call systems, medical imaging and diagnostics, telehealth, remote monitoring and home care devices, RFID, hospital technology integration, e-prescribing, clinical results testing and recording, workforce management, and decision support, and professional association bodies. The exhibition was attended by a number of VIP government delegations from Australia and overseas, including the Premier of New South Wales, The Honourable Kristina Keneally, who also formally opened CeBIT Australia 2010 and announced a NSW Government strategic partnership agreement with Germany for the ICT industry.

CeBIT Australia would like to thank all the eHealth event sponsors, partners, presenters, exhibitors, and delegates for 2010. We hope to see you again next year!!
